About STAR ECO Station
Description:
STAR ECO Station is a 501(c)(3) non-profit 18, 000 sq-ft environmental science children¿¿¿s museum and exotic wildlife rescue facility in Culver City that provides environmental education field trips, gifted and talented
instruction, classroom instruction, after-school enrichment, school assemblies and community events that annually reach over one million learners of all ages. Through a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STAR ECO Station rescues and houses "at-risk" and endangered exotic wildlife. With a mission of ¿¿¿Preservation Through Education, ¿¿¿ STAR ECO Station is dedicated to creating ¿¿¿a new breed of environmental heroes¿¿¿ committed to protecting the Earth¿¿¿s resources. Visitors study ecology and environmentalism on a breathtaking encounter with rescued tropical birds, exotic reptiles, wildcats, ocean life and 15 educational displays, including the Santa Monica BayKeeper¿¿¿s walk-thru Kelp Forest display. The STAR ECO Station is open to the public on weekends for hands-on eco-educational tours, providing quality environmental science education aligned with California State Standards. Admission for weekend tours is $6 for children, $7 for seniors and $8 for adults. The STAR ECO Station hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, including community events, workshops, conferences and birthday parties. Voted ¿¿¿Best Zoo Alternative¿¿¿ by Los Angeles Magazine in its 2006 ¿¿¿Best of LA¿¿¿ issue, voted the ¿¿¿Best Place to See Animals¿¿¿ by LA Family Magazine in 2002 and voted the ¿¿¿Best Teaching Zoo/Animal Rescue in 2003¿¿¿ by LA Parent magazine, STAR ECO Station is a valued local treasure.
