About
Us
The
Oakdale
Cowboy
Museum
contains
the
sights,
sounds
and
smells
of
our
western
heritage.
Upon
entering
the
Cowboy
Museum,
one
quickly
notices
the
memorabilia
that
illustrates
the
lifestyle
of
the
American
Cowboy.
The
unique
skills
of
the
leather
crafter
are
seen
on
the
finely
tooled
leather
saddles
that
surround
the
two
galleries
of
the
Museum.
The
action
photographs
that
fill
the
spacious
walls
along
with
several
personal
collections
tell
the
story
of
our
early
western
beginnings.
The
many
tools
of
the
rancher
such
as
branding
irons,
boots,
spurs
and
chaps
are
displayed
for
a
bhands
onb
experience.
It's
only
fitting
that
Oakdale,
known
as
the
bCowboy
Capital
of
the
Worldb
has
a
Cowboy
Museum
commemorating
our
local
ranchers,
rodeo
cowboys
and
cowgirls.
Centrally
located,
Oakdale
attracted
many
young
bcowhandsb
in
the
1950bs
&
60bs
that
worked
on
area
ranches
during
the
week
and
entered
rodeo
competition
on
the
weekends.
Several
of
these
cowboys
won
rodeo
championship
titles
and
brought
home
coveted
awards
and
national
acclaim
to
Oakdale.
Together,
these
rodeo
athletes
earned
over
25
professional
world
championship
titles,
countless
trips
to
the
National
Finals
Rodeo.
Visitors
to
the
Cowboy
Museum
will
marvel
over
these
classic
awards
that
all
will
enjoy.
Kids
will
like
our
special
interactive
area
where
dressing
up
as
cowboy
or
cowgirl
is
encouraged.
